Quality Assurance
Quality Assurance isn't a department at Crimtech, it's a way of life. It is embedded into each design and fabrication process we have. The management of Crimtech is committed to providing superior service and a high quality product in every operation of the company. By working together, employees, contractors and management can ensure that our clients receive a quality product, every time.
Crimtech's Quality Assurance Program for the Fabrication department consists of three main elements: design integrity, quality control, and documentation.
Design Integrity
A good design leads to a quality product. This starts with thoroughly understanding the wants and needs of our customer. To accomplish this Crimtech uses 3D drafting or modeling to help our customers visualize what end product will look like. Models can be emailed to the client who in turn can rotate it or section it to have real good look at what they are buying. Changes are easily made at this time, reducing the number of change orders that might occur in the future.
Products can be designed to the customer's engineering specifications or to Crimtech's Engineering & Construction Standards.
Quality Control
Pressure Equipment
Crimtech is certified by the Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) to fabricate pressure vessels and piping in Alberta. Further to this, Crimtech is also certified with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) to build category "U" pressure vessels. Crimtech has held this certification since 1995 and has passed three ASME audits since.
Structural Equipment
Crimtech is one of few oilfield fabrication shops that are certified to weld steel structures under the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB). 95% of our clients do not require this level of quality control for oilfield well site equipment, but at Crimtech it was an opportunity to improve ourselves under this association. It is this commitment to quality that sets us apart from our competitors.
Instrumentation & Electrical Checks
Every package is checked for function and ease of operation. Fit and finish is also checked against Crimtech's tough standards.
Each package is pressured up with air so instruments and control valves can be checked including electrical switches. Instrumentation and instrument tubing are checked for leaks.
Measurement, pressure, and temperature transmitters are calibrated, when requested, and communication to RTU's and PLC's verified. RTU or PLC programs are tested for functionality.
Electrical systems can be checked from 12 to 600 volts. All of Crimtech's units are built to CSA standards under our Electrical Quality Control program. In some cases dielectric testing is conducted to ensure continuity.
Documentation
Crimtech provides complete traceability to each unit that we build. Every unit has a unique Crimtech Serial Number (CSN) that we use to trace every drawing and document of that unit. Our serial number database (inhouse developed program) tracks major components such as equipment, vessels, piping, and electronic flow meters to each CSN. Clients receive a complete electronic quality control document or optional paper booklet when the unit is complete.
