Crimtech Services Ltd., Alberta Report, February 23, 1998
Established in 1993 and located in Red Deer, Alberta, Crimtech Services Ltd. specializes in providing maintenance engineering to the oil and gas industry. In the five years since the business began, it has grown from 2 employees to now employing 25 people. Company founders, Craig and Kim Nykyforuk, saw within the industry a need for services in both project work and documentation and Red Deer provided the ideal location.
"Many of the field offices for the large companies were shutting down and centralizing in Calgary," explains Craig, project supervisor and president. "As downsizing took place, I wanted to remain in the oil and gas industry, and I felt that the existing facilities would still need to be serviced. Starting Crimtech was the option of choice, and Red Deer provides a great central location, with many of the major facilities within an hour of us."
With an experienced and impressive team of personnel, Crimtech offers services to the field operations and the people who run these facilities. Mechanical, civil, instrumentation and electrical design work, process trouble shooting and accurate facility documentation line the list of services Crimtech's staff successfully and competently offer. Key personnel possess practical operation knowledge from years within the industry. Working together, the people at Crimtech strive to provide the most accurate and efficient drawings, facility records, and maintenance and equipment service.
While Crimtech has prospered within our province servicing many of the larger corporations, the company has completed many contracts in BC and Saskatchewan as well. Servicing numerous drawing maintenance contracts with various companies, Crimtech provides upgrades, electrical, piping and instrumentation diagrams. From small field operations to large corporations, this company has an impressive corporate resume.
Crimtech Services is also developing a reputation for providing clients with cost-effective alternatives to problems encountered in the field. The company, after being turned away by fabrication houses, decided to produce a separator that would allow shut-in or abandoned gas to be produced.
The FloDrip Wellhead Separator is one of Crimtech's latest products. Developed as a solution to one client's problem, this patented separator improves the economics of marginal gas wells. The FloDrip Wellhead Separator has received overwhelming response from the oil and gas industry, proving to be efficient and effective in lowering operation costs and increasing gas production. Costing a fraction of the price of a larger unit, FloDrip has even made its way onto the US market.
These small high capacity separators remove water, mud and wellbore sediment that build up in pipelines obstructing potential flow form even aging wells. The units are easy to install and will integrate readily with any existing piping systems while conforming to ASME codes. Extensively tested in an arctic simulation laboratory, operating at temperatures below -30C with winds in excess of 50km/h, Crimtech Services has engineered the ultimate alternative to conventional separator packages for low flow gas wells.
For a small company, Crimtech Services has been able to take giant steps in its endeavor to fulfill the needs of the energy sector, and the future of this dynamic young company is one worth watching.
